Art of War: Legions is an addictive idle-meets-strategy game where you command armies of medieval fantasy units in auto-battler style combat. Before each round, you manually arrange your troops — infantry, archers, cavalry, tanks, and siege weapons — in a formation of your choice, then watch the battle unfold automatically. The satisfaction comes from optimizing your army composition and placement to counter the opposing formation. Individual troop matches last only a minute or so, and the progression loop of upgrading units and acquiring new troop types is genuinely engaging. The Expedition mode offers a more hands-on strategic experience. The game is light on active strategy during fights themselves, but its short session format and constant upgrade loop make it surprisingly hard to put down. Optional video ads can boost coin earnings without forcing purchases. ⚔️🏹
How to play?
1. **Download and Start:** Install Art of War: Legions and follow the brief tutorial to learn how to place troops and understand the battle interface.
2. **Arrange Your Formation:** Before each battle, drag troop units from your roster onto the formation grid — place tanky melee units at the front and ranged units behind.
3. **Start the Battle:** Tap the Fight button to begin the round — your troops engage the enemy automatically based on their type and formation position.
4. **Review Results:** After the battle ends, review which units survived and how the enemy was defeated to identify weaknesses in your current formation.
5. **Upgrade Your Troops:** Spend coins earned from battles to upgrade individual troop types — higher-level units deal more damage and have greater survivability.
6. **Unlock New Units:** Progress through campaign chapters to unlock new troop types with special abilities that expand your formation options.
7. **Try Expedition Mode:** Access Expedition from the main menu for a more strategic map-based mode where you actively direct troop movements and plan multi-stage campaigns.
