Art of War: Legions is an addictive idle-meets-strategy game where you command armies of medieval fantasy units in auto-battler style combat. Before each round, you manually arrange your troops — infantry, archers, cavalry, tanks, and siege weapons — in a formation of your choice, then watch the battle unfold automatically. The satisfaction comes from optimizing your army composition and placement to counter the opposing formation. Individual troop matches last only a minute or so, and the progression loop of upgrading units and acquiring new troop types is genuinely engaging. The Expedition mode offers a more hands-on strategic experience. The game is light on active strategy during fights themselves, but its short session format and constant upgrade loop make it surprisingly hard to put down.
